• Title: Senior Scientist - Organic Chemistry Team Leader

• €¢ Location: Abingdon, Oxfordshire (own transport preferred)

• €¢ Salary: £23k - £38k (depending on experience)

• €¢ Team Leadership experience essential

• €¢ PhD / MSc in Organic Chemistry a strong advantage

• €¢ HPLC, LC-MS and NMR experience essential, as well as other techniques

Summary

A professional Organic Chemist with team leadership experience and strong knowledge of method / process transfer and development is required to join one of the Pharmaceutical leaders in API Development & Manufacturing.

The Company

A state-of-the-art facility devoted to the production and development of APIs (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients) for use in new drug products. The company employs around 90 staff and prides itself on the positive working environment, ongoing training and good salaries on offer.

The Role

Using your broad organic chemistry background to the full, you will co-ordinate a broad range of activities across all stages of development of organic chemistry. This includes medicinal chemistry support, route scaling and selection, custom preparation up to Kg scale, lab-based GMP production up to Kg scale, process research & development and pilot plant support of processes. With guidance from the project management group, you will lead your team from a practical laboratory perspective.

Experience

The successful candidate must be an inspirational leader with a strong degree (ideally a higher degree / PhD / MSc) in Organic Chemistry (or a related discipline), together with strong experience of GMP-compliant pilot scale manufacturing, technical transfer and method development. You must be familiar with the use of online literature research tools, with an ability to quickly assimilate new information, and you must be competent in HPLC, NMR and LC-MS, along with other techniques.
